TOTAL TIME 5 minutesminutes
YIELD 8servings
Ingredients
1(8 oz) brick of cream cheeseat room temperature
1/2cupthick caramel sauce
1/3cupchopped pecans
4 - 6applessliced thin, we prefer honeycrisp, pink ladies, or granny smith apples for this
1 - 2teapsoonslemon juice
Instructions
Place the brick of cream cheese on a pretty plate or platter where you plan to assemble your spread. Let it come to room temperature on the counter for 20 minutes.
If you are using very thick caramel sauce, warm it in the microwave for just 15 seconds to soften it enough for easy spreading. A thinner caramel sauce won't require this step.
Spread (or pour) the caramel sauce over the cream cheese in an even layer. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top.
Thinly slice the fresh apples and place them in a mixing bowl. Pour the lemon juice over the top and give them a gentle toss to coat. This will help prevent the apples from turning brown as they sit on the snack board.
Arrange the apples around the cream cheese spread. Add a spreader knife or two to the plate and serve.
Recipe Notes
Nut-Free Alternative:
If you don't want to use the chopped pecans, you can substitute chopped toffee candies, mini chocolate chips, butterscotch or peanut butter chips.
